Twenty years ago, Mollie began to seriously explore painting as a medium of personal expression. At first she focused on naturalistically drawn monochrome and two-tone studies of the human figure. After years of studying and performing theatre,
becoming a mother and facing serious health issues, her work changed dramatically. Today Mollies paintings are conceptual, often with herself, friends or family as subjects. At present, Mollies painting technique involves sketching the image into gesso, then applying a metallic ground. Over this she pours different combinations of blues, blacks, reds, golds and browns, allowing the paint to dry into the textured surface. The image is then laid over this complex background in several layers. For more details on her process see http://www.molliekellogg.com/The_Process_Kellogg.pdf Mollies work has sold internationally and has been displayed in New York, Santa Fe, Seattle, Phoenix, Solana Beach, La Jolla and San Diego.
