I live in the UK and have been painting for over thirty years. My early interests were in landscape, using oils, and I did not paint floral subjects at all until the mid 1990’s. I prefer the more traditional approaches to painting, although this preference has had to be modified for the UK market which prefers contemporary and abstract subjects. So these days I play on both sides of the fence, so to speak! I use oils and soft pastels, and more recently acrylics as well. Flowers lend themselves to all media, they are so versatile. The natural shapes and play of light are all important to me and I try to capture these to the best of my ability, to make the flowers seem "more" than just mere plants. I can work on both small and large canvasses, allowing me to create a breadth of work from small and detailed to diffuse and semi-abstracted. ( View more » )
