| Confederate Memorial Day
Memorial Day is observed in the US on the last Monday in May to commemorate those who died in military service of the country. But many American cities do not conform to this general celebration. They have their respective Memorial Day dates to honor the Confederate soldiers. This is called the Confederate Memorial Day. Several Southern States of the US keep aside a Confederate Memorial Day to honor those soldiers who gave up their lives defending the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War.
The Confederate Memorial Day dates observed in some States of America are:
Alabama-Fourth Monday in April
Mississippi-Last Monday in April
Georgia-April 26
North Carolina-May 10
South Carolina-May 10
Louisiana-June 3
Tennessee-June 3
Texas-January 19
Virginia-Last Monday in May
In Tennessee, the Confederate Memorial Day is known as Confederate Decoration Day and in Texas, it is more commonly referred to as Confederate Heroes Day.
