Halloween Safety Tips

Halloween sure is a festival for boisterous merrymaking, partying till the wee hours of the night and being in high spirits ! But the frenzied celebration, playing the trickster and having a fling are encouraged only as long as it stays within sensible and safe parameters. While going a little over-the-top in celebrating Halloween is of course granted, keeping a tab on the ‘caution’ button is just as much appreciated. One must necessarily be heedful towards Halloween safety so that the fun doesn’t end up in a bitter memory. And as you perhaps already know—it’s always better to be safe than sorry ! So why not tuck that bit of safety measure in your kitty as you gear up to plunge headlong into the Halloween celebrations this October 31 ?

Now you may ask, what’s this brouhaha about Halloween safety and wonder what can be the threats to Halloween celebration ? Well, Halloween safety chiefly concerns the tiny tots who fall an easy prey to such despicable sadism. Children have often found to be the victims of people’s sadistic approaches during Halloween. Hence each parent should be extra vigilant to ensure that his/ her child has a fun and safe Halloween. Proper safety tips should be given to them before they set out to trick-or-treat in the evening. They should also be guided about what kind of costumes to wear and what to avoid on Halloween. It’s better to impress on them the worth of Halloween safety measures before they leave the house.

And all these Halloween safety checks are not without a reason. Several unfortunate incidents have been reported on or after the Halloween day. Rumors of Halloween candy laced with harmful drugs hit the headlines during the 1960s and by the end of another decade, such Halloween hazard reports started to flood the nation every year right after the holiday. In one year, as was heard, some older children badly bullied younger ones in an attempt to steal candies. And in another year, razor blades and broken glass chips were reportedly found in the trick-or-treat goodies that the kids received. Halloween safety, thus, is the call of the hour ! Here are some Halloween safety tips to help you have a safe and happy Halloween. Check them out:

Trick-Or-Treat Safety Tips
  • Make sure young children are accompanied by some responsible teenagers or adults when they go trick-or-treating from door to door.
  • Ask your kids to go trick-or-treating in known neighborhoods.
  • Tell them to use sidewalks, cross only at the corners and strictly instruct them never to run between parked cars.
  • They should not go inside anyone’s home unless it’s someone known.
  • If they go out in the dark, give them a flashlight and ask them to stick to well-lit streets.
