Christmas Games

If Christmas spells fun to you, then the games of Christmas are unmistakably there in your agenda, aren’t they? Well, groovy Christmas games are a big part of Christmas. And Christmas games are delightfully galore; you just need to pick and play. Christmas, as you all know, is the most favorite of all American holidays! There aren’t enough words to describe Christmas—a time so close to our hearts, Christmas is the perfect time to wish, cheer and party! From hanging up stockings to polishing off sugarplums, from decorating the Christmas tree to swinging to the rhythm of the carols, from kissing under the mistletoe to lighting up colorful candles and fairy lights, from preparing super-rich fruitcakes to greeting everyone with a cheery 'Merry Christmas', Christmas is, indeed, a wonderful time chock-a-block with love, luck, laughter and good cheer! And the Christmas games brisk up the holiday spirits with a tad more vigor and vitality. What’s more is these games are for all. So no one falls out of the celebrations and each gets game for a Christmas fun-time! Following are some ideas for Christmas games which you can fill in into your holiday schedule this year. Check them out:

  • How about a Christmas memory game? Scatter as many Christmas items as you can—bells, stars, candies, toys, mini-trees, stockings, mistletoe, etc—loosely on a table. Spare 1 minute to let the players look at these and then cover them up. Now ask them to write from memory the things they saw. Apart from enhancing the memory, this Christmas game is good for the entire family at your Christmas get-together.
  • To have everyone fall about rolling in laughter, this game is unsurpassable by all odds. This is called the ‘Statue!’ game and is often played in other occasions. But would be even better on Christmas when the merry-making spirits are at their best. All you have to do is play some Christmas scores in the background and ask your guests to dance to the music. Pause the music suddenly and as soon as the music stops, everyone is to freeze in whichever position they are. The ‘statue’ frame is hilarious to intolerable degrees. So live up the holidays with this Christmas game.
  • The Christmas Twenty Questions game is yet another winning idea for a Christmas game. This one is a group game where one person from the group picks up a chit from a basket. Others of his/her team try to guess what Christmas-related word or song is in the chit by asking questions which can be answered just in “yes”, “no” or “I don’t know”. Points are awarded in diminishing order of the questions asked. If the right word is guessed at the first question, they get more points than a right guess after the fifth or sixth question. A maximum of twenty questions are allowed, after which the next team gets a chance to guess. A very common of all the games played during Christmas, try this one if you haven’t played this before with your pals.
  • ‘Passing the parcel’ is again one of those great groovy Christmas games that keep the party ambience on the high end of thrill. Wrap a nice gift in layers of wrappers until it looks big and tempting. Play music and have it passed from one to another, each opening one layer at a time. The one in whose turn the last layer unfolds to reveal the gift, gets the gift! Sounds fun, isn’t it? So get going.
  • You can even play a tongue twister game or a Chinese whisper game with Christmas words and phrases. These games give funny results and would ensure the million-dollar smiles always! So just choose any or all for this December 25.
  • Here’s another peachy Christmas game for the young ones. It’s popularly called ‘Pin the Tail on Rudolf’ game, where you just need a picture of Rudolf with a missing tail and a scarf. Have the kids blindfolded with the scarf and give them Rudolf’s paper-tail. Now they are to go and fix the tail at the right or closest spot on the picture. The tail can be subbed with Rudolf’s nose too. The kid, who goes closest to the target spot in the picture, wins this Christmas game.
